No, unfortunately we do not have any leeway with North District or off-campus housing, only the UCR affiliated communities and contracts.

You will be sent an email notification as early as Week 6 during Spring 2024 quarter to review and sign documents.

No, your contract will remain as outlined in your offer letter and the conditions of employment document you will sign for either a 10-month or 12-month length.

No, student staff are not required to take summer classes in a 12-month contract, but are encouraged to do so if it fits within your academic progress or if the academic requirements for the position are needing to be maintained (e.g. cumulative GPA)

Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.3 (RA, PARE, PACE, and PADEI) or 2.5 (PAA), or higher or 3.0 as a Grad Student.
Maintain a conduct record consistent with the mission and values of UCR Residential Education, Housing, Dining and Hospitality Services. (Follow all University Policies and Housing Policies.).
Successfully pass conduct screening with Student Conduct and Academic Integrity Programs office.

Yes, we do not want to interfere with your academic progress if a summer course is required.
Additionally, All student staff will have only up until Summer A to improve any of the academic requirements (e.g. cumulative GPA) for the position.

RA/PA: Yes, the first week of RA/PA training will be asynchronous. You will be expected to be able to complete the required responsibilities due during training.
ARD: Yes, however we expect you to be present for the majority of ARD training and engaged for the majority of student staff training.

Mainly academic requests are approved by the department, but all requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please plan to be present and engaged at training M-F between 8 am – 5pm for the dates provided.

ARD: Please submit your request by July 15th 8:00 am.
RAs/PAs: Please submit your request by August 5th 8 am: https://forms.office.com/r/NyHFphEFni.
Please submit a request for each date block(s) with a different "category" (e.g. vacation vs. medical vs. Internship, etc.).
Note: not all requests are approved; you will be notified by your supervisor by the end of July/August respectively if your request has been approved or not.

You will be provided with your room assignment in the summer. Residential Education provides Housing Services the list of student staff, and Housing Services will prepare the contract for you to sign via Star Rez portal.

No, room assignments are specific to Residential Education student staff, and assignments will not be reassigned unless you have an accommodation request. However, in the event there is a need to move student staff, Residential Education with Housing Services will notify you about a relocation.

For new staff only: You will be completing an on-boarding appointment with ASSET, our UCR campus partners that assist with background checks and employment verification.
We will be hosting a “mass on-boarding event” with ASSET on June 4th, 5th, and 6th where you will have a 15 minute appointment. More information for sign-ups to be shared at a later time.
If you are unable to make your appointment time or need to return to ASSET, we ask this on-boarding appointment be completed before you depart for summer.
You will need to provide your I-9 documents for employment paperwork with ASSET. All documents need to be the original forms, not copies. Please do not email your documents to ResLife. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1slcUZkLUY4K5vgvaMtrUcZg9cskDqLat/view?usp=sharing.

Move-in for ARDs takes place on August 2 starting at 2 pm and completed by August 4.
Move-in for RA/PAs occurs between August 30 starting at 2 pm and completed by September 2.
You must sign your housing contract before being able to pick up your keys from your respective RSO.

The summer meal plan starts on the first date of in-person employment, Monday August 5 for ARD, and Monday September 3 for RA/PA. During training, staff will be provided with 15 meal swipes every week, and no dining dollars. The 120-meal swipe and $150 meal plan starts on the first day of Fall Quarter.

Please contact TAPS in the summer about being a student staff for Residential Education present for training. Parking permits during summer training are separate from permits starting fall quarter.

We do not expect student staff to complete tasks prior to your employment start date.
Successful tools to prepare for training:
- Personal snacks to have during training
- Notebook / note-taking device
- Excitement and high energy!

Note: All candidates should submit a housing application or make alternative housing arrangements for the academic year in case they do not receive an employment offer.
Candidates that receive an offer will be instructed to submit a housing application if they have not already.

You can apply at ucr.erezlife.com. You will need your full UCR email (firstname.lastname@email.ucr.edu) and your student ID number in order to activate your account when signing in for the first time.

Current UCR students and incoming UCR transfer students who:
- Will be full time UCR students for the 2024-2025 academic year
- Are currently enrolled as a full-time student (12 units for undergraduate/8 units for graduate)
- Currently have a minimum 2.3 cumulative GPA (some positions require a 2.5 GPA or higher), which must be met by the first employment date of the position.
- Are in good standing with the University, Student Conduct, and Academic Integrity Programs, Housing Services, and Residential Education.

Yes, graduate students are eligible to apply pending the approval of your department.

Yes, you can apply even if your official admission will not be given until after the application submission. Residential Education will confirm your enrollment prior to the start of the position.

Yes, you can apply if you're undocumented. Your means of compensation will be discussed with the Assistant Director for Recruitment & Development.

No, students do not have to have on-campus housing experience or live on campus to apply. Students should have an understanding of community living.

Residential Education has two different employment periods:
- Academic year - 10-month contract (September 2024 -June 2025)
- Year Round - 12-month contract (September 2024 - September 2025)
At the time of application, candidates will be asked to select which employment periods they are available for.

RA's/PA's receive a space in an assigned residential community and meal plan paid for by Residential Education.
PA's/RA's receive a biweekly stipend of $50.
ARD's receive an apartment in an assigned residential community and meal plan paid for by Residential Education.
ARD's receive a biweekly stipend of $250.

Every student's financial situation is unique. Residential Education cannot say for certain how financial aid may be impacted. It is advised that students consult financial aid prior to accepting any employment offers.

All student staff positions should take priority over any other employment or activity. Once the offer is accepted and during the first month of employment, student staff must have approval of their supervisor to ensure successful work performance. Commitments beyond the student staff position (e.g. student teaching, internships, outside employment, student leadership positions, etc.) are generally limited to a combined 10 hours per week. Student staff, with the guidance of their supervisor, will plan a schedule that will allow for a reasonable amount of visibility and availability in their units during the period of employment.

Student staff positions in Residential Education are not part of the work-study program. If you are in the work-study program you are still eligible to apply to be a student staff member.

If you are selected to forward in the application process, you will be invited to sign up for an individual interview with our Residential Education Staff.

The professional staff team determine who works in each residential community based on departmental needs, student population and community needs. Candidates can express interest in working with different student population when filling out the application. Residential Education will consider candidate's preferences when necessary.
