What is Residential Education?
Residential Education, formerly known as Residential Life, at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) is committed to creating a secure, welcoming environment where everyone fits in. Our aim is to offer an all-round experience that encourages not just academic learning, but also social, cultural, and personal development. Assistant Resident Director

ARDs work with professional staff to supervise/advise/manage departmental components. ARDs are considered Senior Student Staff, and there are several different types of ARDs: Residence Halls, Campus Apartments, Programming, Residential Experiences, Academics, Recruitment & Development, and Leadership.


Resident Advisor


RAs facilitate community development within a specific living area and collaborate to engage and create learning spaces for residents. RAs work in all communities where students live: Lothian, Pentland Hills, Dundee, Aberdeen-Inverness, Glen Mor, Bannockburn, Oban, Plaza, Falkirk, and Stonehaven.


Program Advisor


PAs work to create large scale and community focused programs to build community, create connections and learning opportunities for students in our residence halls and apartments. PAs are split into four teams: Community Engagement, Academics, Residential Experiences, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
